The Marksman Team
Our founders, along with our talented staff, work tirelessly to provide you with high-value, personalized guidance and support.
Chris Sylvester, Co-Founder
Chris is a sophomore at Yale majoring in Economics. He graduated from Walt Whitman High School in 2022. He was the captain of Whitman's speech and debate team and the head coach of Pyle Middle School's debate program, where he worked with over 50 students. He has 6 years of experience working with younger students as a mentor in the contexts of debate, music, community service, and college admissions. At Yale, in addition to Marksman, he plays lead saxophone in the Yale Jazz ensemble and is a member of the Yale Debate Association. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, reading Calvin and Hobbes, and playing piano.
Katherine Sylvester, Co-Founder
Katherine Sylvester graduated from Yale College in 2023 with a B.S. in Statistics & Data Science. She attended Yale on a full-ride presidential scholarship from the Calvin Coolidge Foundation. After using her knowledge of the application process to assist younger friends with successful applications to Yale and Stanford, she decided to co-found Marksman. She enjoys mentoring younger students with the Marksman team, and has done so in many capacities—a debate coach, a TA, a college first-year counselor—over the years. For Marksman, she primarily works with students on ACT tutoring and college strategy.
